Web.Com Has ‘Oprah Moment’ for its Website Builder

Web.com has launched a free trial for its SMB-focused and AI-fueled website builder. This involves the platform’s full slate of functionality, which can be used to build new websites. SMBs are only charged if they decide to keep using it after the month-long trial expires, which is meant to de-risk the investment.

Back to the “AI-fueled” part, it involves several tools that streamline and automate rote aspects of building a website. This is a well-placed AI integration, given that these are tasks that SMBs generally dread. Manually building a website doesn’t align with their skill sets, nor their available bandwidth.

In addition to the AI functions (more on those in a bit), the trial offers access to adjacent features such as marketing. For example, users can sync their new site to their social media accounts to automate some aspects of social marketing. The trial also includes appointment scheduling and other functions.

“The AI-powered builder is now free to try so that entrepreneurs can see how their business can come to life online before deciding to launch their website,” Newfold Digital (parent company of Web.com) president Ed Jay told Localogy Insider. “This free trial includes access to all capabilities and features of the website builder, unlike other trials that have limitations, giving entrepreneurs the ability to try everything the Web.com builder has to offer.”

5-Minute Abs Websites

Going a bit deeper into the AI functions, they streamline several tasks that often trip up non-tech-savvy SMBs. Starting at the very beginning of the website-building process, it offers an AI-fueled domain name finder, as we recently examined. This can normally be a cumbersome endeavor, even for the savviest.

From there, the AI continues to go to work in requisite steps like creating a logo, building out the site architecture, and writing copy. It kicks things off with a few questions about the business, then goes to work. Altogether, Web.com says that you can generate a professional website “within minutes.”

Add it all up and it’s about reducing friction. The AI mitigates time & hassle friction, while the freemium orientation mitigates risk-based friction. Web.com also makes a point to say that the free trial includes all of the functionality of its paid website builder, as opposed to a watered-down demo version.

“Our mission is to continue to help small business owners by facilitating their ability to establish their online presence and grow their business with our easy and efficient website builder,” said Jay.
